UK stronger and more prosperous in EU, says Norway's Foreign Minister
The UK should stay in the European Union if it seeks to continue to hold influence over market legislation, according to Norway Foreign Minister Borge Brende.
Despite not holding a place in the EU, Norway enacts the majority of its legislation in order to maintain market access within the European Economic Area (EEA).
"Europe without Britain I don't think is as strong a Europe as with Britain inside," he told the BBC.
"We see Britain as an important voice also in the EU, we know Britain is now seeing a recovery in its economy, and we want to see the European economy also revive."
Prime Minister David Cameron is currently gathering support from other EU leaders for his reform plans, which include curbing migrant benefits, slashing EU bureaucracy, removing market barriers and instating a bigger say in national parliamanets over EU laws.
While some British Eurosecptic argue that Norway's model would work for an independent Britain, Brende insisted that a strong single market was of the utmost importance.
