Last year, Coupe was given a two-year prison sentence for allegedly attempting to seize cheques that were connected to a business in which the company had invested more than 15 years ago.
The chief executive has slammed the accusations as "groundless" - he was not actually employed by the company at the time Sainsbury ceased its Egyptian operations and was with a journalist in London at the time of the alleged crime.
A hearing was held in Egypt on April 26th at which Coupe attempted to have the conviction overturned, but this was adjourned until May 3rd.
The hearing will be postponed for two weeks.
