Twitter and Facebook need to change their terms and conditions, new report claims
Terms and conditions for social media websites like Twitter and Facebook are “simply too long and complex for any reasonable person to make any real sense of”, according to a new report by the Commons Science and Technology Select Committee.

The report has claimed that the terms are written by lawyers, for use in the US court system to protect organisations against lawsuits, but fail to inform or instruct website users.
The terms and conditions “are simply not fit for purpose” and reading them feels like “engaging with Shakespeare”.
Governments need to step in and create regulations that protect the public by making sure they can understand the contracts they agree to when using social media, the report adds.
