TREASURY SHARES - TRANSFERS

In accordance with Listing Rule 12.6.4, Anglo American plc announces that 3,138 ordinary shares were transferred from treasury shares on 19 June 2012 in respect of the grant and vesting of awards under the Company's share plans.

Following the transfer, Anglo American plc has a total of 15,340,100 ordinary shares held in treasury and a total of 1,390,114,833 ordinary shares in issue, excluding treasury shares.
