6 May 2008 FirstGroup plc Transfer of shares held in treasury

FirstGroup plc ("the Company") announces that on 6 May 2008 it transferred to participants in the Company's employee SAYE scheme 12,483 ordinary shares at a price of 267 pence per share. The shares were all formerly held as treasury shares.

Following the above transfer of shares out of treasury, the Company holds a total of 402,162 of its ordinary shares in treasury. The total number of ordinary shares in issue excluding treasury shares is 437,876,636.
