Kier Construction wins major civils package for EDF Energy

Kier Construction, the heavy civil engineering arm of Kier Group, has been awarded a contract valued in the region of £100m to provide civil engineering works for a 1300MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station at West Burton in Nottinghamshire on behalf of EDF Energy.

Work on the infrastructure for the new power station is due to start immediately and is scheduled for completion in October 2010.

The company has been responsible for the delivery of civils works packages for twelve major UK power stations in recent years and this latest award augments Kier Construction's position as a leader in the delivery of energy sector infrastructure.
