Balfour Beatty plc ("the Company") received notice on 15 August 2008 from Legal & General Group Plc ("Legal & General") that Legal & General now hold 32,807,704 ordinary shares in the Company, representing 6.87% of the total voting rights of the Company.

Of the 32,807,704 ordinary shares, the Company has been advised that 29,172,464 (6.11%) comprise a direct interest in the Company's total voting rights and that 3,635,240 (0.76%) comprise an indirect interest in the Company's total voting rights.
