HSE IS AWARDING CAPITA A TEN YEAR CONTRACT TO OPERATE A NEW GAS INSTALLER REGISTRATION SCHEME

The Capita Group Plc (Capita) has been selected by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to operate a new gas installer registration scheme in Great Britain from April 2009. The contract valued at £14 million per annum is awarded for a term of 10 years. The contract will be signed on 8 September 2008. Capita announced its selection by HSE as preferred partner for the scheme for a term of at least five years on 18 June.

The new gas installer registration scheme will replace the scheme currently operated by CORGI and will deliver a renewed focus on gas safety. Around 250 CORGI employees are expected to TUPE transfer to the new scheme. From January 2009, Capita will be responsible for registrations and renewals for the registration year starting 1 April 2009. The full operation of the scheme will start on 1 April 2009.
