Purchase of Shares by Venture Production plc IOM Employee Benefit Trust (the Trust)

Venture Production plc announces that it was notified on 18 September 2008 that the Trust had acquired 86,500 ordinary shares of £0.004 pence in the Company at 570.79 pence per share on 

18 September 2008.

The Company's shares held by the Trust are used to satisfy awards in the Company's Long Term Share Incentive Plans and Employee Annual Bonus Plan.

The Executive Directors and Persons Discharging Managerial Responsibility are potential beneficiaries of the Trust and are deemed to be interested in the shares held by the Trust. 

Following this transaction the Trust retains an interest in 1,322,073 shares, representing 0.88 % of the Company's issued ordinary share capital.
