ABERDEEN ASIAN SMALLER COMPANIES INVESTMENT TRUST PLC - SHARE BUY-BACK

On 10 October 2008, Aberdeen Asian Smaller Companies Investment Trust PLC purchased in the market, 27,400 ordinary shares at 205 pence per share. These shares will be held in treasury. Following the transaction, the Company's share capital will comprise:

31,151,008 Issued Ordinary shares (excluding treasury shares) 

1,500,136 Ordinary shares held in treasury

32,651,144 Issued Ordinary shares (including treasury shares)
