LONDON (ShareCast) - Retailer and telecoms provider Carphone Warehouse hit record highs last year as the group’s continued expansion of its TalkTalk network and broadband service drove sentiment.
The move into fixed line telecoms and services began in 2002 when Carphone acquired Opal Telecom. That deal saw David Goldie, now chief operating officer of the telecoms division, join the group.
While many on the board have been consistently selling shares in the group, usually following the exercise of options, Goldie has made no large transactions.
However Goldie has now made his first move with the sale of 250,000 shares at 333p per share, netting £832,500 in the process. The sale came after he exercised options over 12,600 shares at 73p per share.
Goldie still retains a stake of 820,000 shares in Carphone Warehouse.
Last week the group announced “very good Christmas period” with its UK broadband customer base rising to 2.16m, while TalkTalk broadband base rose to 632,000, including 540,000 live on its new offer.
