LONDON (ShareCast) - Sly Bailey, chief executive of Trinity Mirror, spent £49,000 on shares today after the newspaper group failed to sell off some of its regional titles earlier this week. Bailey bought 11,918 shares at 415.98p each.

On Monday, Trinity agreed to sell the Racing Post to FL Partners, an investment vehicle led by Ireland's Peter Crowley and Neill Hughes, for £170m, but kept some regional titles after prices offered were too low.

"Offers received for some of the group's assets did not reflect the board's assessment of their true value, their earnings potential or the strong positions they hold in their particular markets," Trinity said in a statement.
