LONDON (ShareCast) - Life science company PuriCore was on top of the tech risers today after announcing that its Sterilox Solution treatment has been proven 'highly effective' against pandemic H5N1 avian influenza.

The group said that research showed that Sterilox Solution completely inactivated the H5N1 test strain.

The Sterilox Solution mimics the natural anti-microbial hypochlorous acid produced by the human body to fight pathogens.

Electronic systems provider Turbo Power Systems rose on news that its Power Electronics division has received further orders worth $1.1m from the US National Rail Equipment Company.

The follow-on orders are scheduled for delivery during the first half of 2008, the group said.

“NREC has become a very significant customer for TPS and we are pleased to be a continuing part of their product development programme as well as a key supplier to their existing and successful locomotive production,” said chief executive Michael Hunt.
