LONDON (ShareCast) - Caterer Compass’s chairman Sir Roy Gardner spend nearly £80,000 on shares in the company today.
Sir Roy, the former Manchester United chairman, took 25,000 shares at just over 310p a go, lifting his stake in the company to 200,000 shares.
Shares in the company fell on Monday after Goldman Sachs downgraded its rating to ‘sell’ from ‘neutral’ and cut its price target to 300p from 350p. The broker noted that food prices are rising faster than prices charged at Compass’s canteens.
Goldman’s gloomy outlook contrasted with that of Credit Suisse, which last month lifted its price target on Compass to 415p from 400p following the company’s first quarter results.
Compass said February 8 that operating profit for the first three months was “running well ahead” of last year's first quarter and marginally ahead of expectations.
