LONDON (ShareCast) - Directors at HBOS increased their shareholdings in the bank on Thursday, it confirmed today, following a slump in the share price after rumours that it was in need of emergency funding.
Non-executive director Charles Dunstone, who is also chief executive of the Carphone Warehouse Group, bought 100,000 shares for 446.48p a share.
Executive directors and the group's top 250 senior managers also acquired around 1.3m shares at 446.25p a share, using their respective net cash bonus entitlements under the HBOS annual bonus plan.
HBOS was among the top performers in a buoyant FTSE 100 today after a rally on Wall Street overnight sparked by JP Morgan upping its offer for investment bank Bear Stearns to $10 a share from $2.
The Financial Services Authority (FSA) said Wednesday it is looking into allegations of potential market abuse after false rumours about HBOS’s funding situation sent the shares down 17%.
