LONDON (ShareCast) - Deals to avoid the changes to CGT ahead of the end of the tax year continue to dominate, but one exception looks to be the purchase of over £876,000 worth of shares in Poland-focused coffee shop owner Coffeeheaven.
Non-executive William Currie bought the shares, at 27.3p, to take his holding up to 12.1%. Currie, a former stockbroker with his own investment fund, has been a steady buyer but this latest purchase is by far his largest for some years.
In December, Coffeeheaven posted normalised pre-tax losses of £101,000 in the six months to the end of September, compared with profits of £144,000 in the same period of 2006. Revenues increased 61% to £7.1m from £4.6m, while like-for-like sales rose 20%.
Coffeeheaven said the deficit was down to the move into the Czech Republic, where the company has been expanding, and Bulgaria, where it opened its first stores.
