LONDON (ShareCast) - Engineer Rotork anticipates good levels of growth for both the half and full year and said order intake was up 25% in the first quarter.
On a like-for-like basis, excluding the Remote Control Sweden (RCS) acquisition, order intake was 19% higher. The order book at the end of March reached £125m, which is 28% up on the position as at 31 December or, adjusting for the RCS order book on acquisition, up by 24%.
The integration of RCS is proceeding well with order intake ahead of expectations for the first quarter. Rotork said initial indication is that the RCS product has been well received by its sales channels and it is anticipating a positive contribution from this business in the current year.
Cost pressures continue to be mitigated by sourcing and engineering cost reduction initiatives, the group said, while the strengthening of its two major trading currencies, the Euro and the US Dollar, against Sterling, is also continuing to be of benefit.
