LONDON (ShareCast) - Inter-dealer broker ICAP continues to benefit from volatility in financial markets, with volumes in April sharply higher year-on-year.
The company said that average daily electronic broking volumes in Spot FX traded on its electronic platform in April were 60% higher than in April 2007.
The average daily volume in April rose to S$230.5bn from S$144.1bn in April 2007.
US Treasury products traded on ICAP’s systems were 34% higher in April at $131.5bn (average daily volume) compared with April of last year. Average daily volume of US Treasury productions in the 12 months to 30 April was up 31% on the preceding 12-month period at $159.1bn.
Average daily volumes in US and EU Repo products were up 22% at $483.5bn.
The April figures follow a record performance in March, when volumes leapt to $966.1bn, topping the previous record of $933.9bn set in August 2007.
