LONDON (ShareCast) - Shares in automatic number plate recognition systems company Appian Technology motored forward Wednesday as the company announced three new contracts.

Appian has won contracts with two new commercial customers and another with a police force. In total, the value of the contracts is worth £402,000.

The company’s automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology will be installed in all car parks at a large shopping centre in London, while a large county council in the south of England has contracted Appian to install ANPR technology at council household waste sites so the council can identify users who exceed visitor frequency limits.

The third contract is for nine “Stinger” intelligent ANPR cameras which will be installed at fixed sites in a London borough and used by the police and other security agencies to monitor vehicle movement.

“These commercial orders represent new applications for our ANPR technology,” said Appian chairman Pat Ryan.

“With two new excellent reference customers we hope that our technology will be as successfully taken up in the commercial arena as it has by the UK police, which continue to order additional equipment from us,” Ryan added.
