Thomson Reuters finance boss takes stake

By Rory Gallivan

Date: Thursday 15 May 2008

LONDON (ShareCast) - Thomson Reuters’ chief financial officer Robert Daleo spent nearly $300,000 on shares in the financial news and information giant, the company confirmed today.

He took 1,600 American Depositary Shares (ADS) in the company, paying $185.9 a go. Each ADS is worth six ordinary shares in Thomson Reuters PLC.

As well as his 1,600 ADSs in Thomson Reuters PLC, which is listed on the London stock exchange, Daleo has 5,105 shares in Toronto-listed Thomson Reuters Corporation.

Shares in Thomson Reuters jumped when it reported its maiden first quarter results on May 1. It began trading in the FTSE 100 in April following the merger of Canadian financial information provider Thomson Corporation and UK news wire Reuters.

Total revenue for the three months to March 31 assuming Thomson and Reuters had existed as a joint company was $3.3bn (with around $1.8bn coming from Thomson and $1.4bn from Reuters) compared with $1.66m in the same period a year ago.

“Our combined first quarter results and guidance for the full year reflect the robustness of our business, even in turbulent markets,” Thomson Reuters chief executive Thomas Glocer said.

“Thomson Reuters is extremely well-positioned to capitalize on the growing demand across the world's business and professional communities for intelligent information – insightful, high value content that can be used by human beings and machines.”
