LONDON (ShareCast) - Sheffield United chairman Kevin McCabe spent more than £1.8m shares in the Championship football club on Friday, lifting his holding to nearly 75% of the club.
He bought 18,205,691 shares at 10p each, Sheffield United said today, lifting his holding to around 208m shares, or 74.7% of the firm. On the same day, director Michael Dudley sold his entire holding of nearly 14m shares at the same price.
Sheffield United, which finished ninth in England’s second-tier football division, released its interim results in March.
The club blamed a decrease in television revenues for a fall in turnover to £17.1m from £25.9m over the same period a year ago.
“The development of the Blades as a leisure, services and property company with an international portfolio of football brands at its core has progressed, despite the temporary setback of our current Championship league position,” McCabe said as the the club released its results.
“The strategy for the business has concentrated on growing non-match income,
which is not directly dependent on success on the field.”
