LONDON (ShareCast) - Bosses at Topps Tiles’ spent millions of pounds on shares in the flooring and tiling specialist yesterday, the day after it cut its interim dividend following a fall in profits.
Chairman Barry Bester took 2.5m shares at 75p each, paying a total of £1.875m, and now has around 16.4m shares in the company, or around 9.2%.
He was joined by the company’s president Stuart Williams, who took 2m shares at the same price and now has more than 19m shares.
Chief Executive Matthew Williams took 50,000 shares, paying 74p a share.
Other board members, including the Conservative MP Michael Jack bought smaller stakes.
Shares in Topps Tiles have fallen heavily over the past year. Last August, Matthew Williams paid 231.5p a share for 30,000 shares.
