LONDON (ShareCast) - Retailers are going well at the end of a week in which several of them updated the market. Among these is Carphone Warehouse, which Citigroup has upgraded to ‘hold’ from ‘sell’ to reflect the 40% slide in the mobile phone retailer’s share price so far this year. Music and DVD retailer HMV, sports equipment chain JJB and department store Debenhams are also joining in the advance.
Oil equipment services and distribution companies are down in line with lower oil prices. Amec and John Wood Group are among the sector’s fallers after crude prices fell below $135 barrel amid talk that Saudi Arabia plans to ramp up production.
