Renishaw starts proceedings over patent dispute

LONDON (ShareCast) - Engineer Renishaw said it has begun legal proceedings against Tesa SA and Hexagon Metrology over alleged patent infringements in the US.

The group believes that certain probing products manufactured by Tesa SA and distributed in the US by Hexagon Metrology infringe its US patents.

"As part of this legal action, Renishaw has also requested a preliminary injunction to restrain Hexagon's infringement, prior to the full trial, which is a matter for the court's discretion," said the group.

It estimates the litigation may take several years to reach a final decision.
