LONDON (ShareCast) - Transport equipment and marine container hire group Axis Intermodal has continued to experience strong demand across all divisions and said it remains optimistic about the outcome for the current financial year and prospects for the group, despite the current economic climate.
Axis Intermodal's UK-based truck and trailer division has grown its fleet by 32% to May 2008, to 1538. The German fleet has grown by 10% to 3613 in the same five month period. In addition, further contracts have been secured for in excess of 1000 units.
The group's marine container leasing division, SeaAxis, also continued its growth and early indications from USA-based Reefer spares business, Seaco Parts, acquired from Sea Containers in May, are encouraging.
“We are very pleased with the initial indicators for this financial year,” said executive chairman Robert Montague.
“Our 2007 results were a continued reflection of the building of the profit record and capital base and, whilst mindful of the current economic climate, we are confident of our prospects for the current financial year,” he added.
