Date: Monday 30 Jun 2008
LONDON (ShareCast) - Mobile telecommunications stocks are going well after Vodafone announced a tie-up with the social network web site MySpace. Cable and Wireless also advances.
Oil plays advance after the price of a barrel of crude rose to a record above $143 a barrel on concerns supplies from Iran may be disrupted. BP and Shell are among the risers.
Healthcare stocks are having a bad day after care home group Southern Cross warned of a breach of bank covenants, poor trading and the departure of its finance director.
Trading has been hit by lower than anticipated occupancy at its homes due to a higher-than-expected death rate, lower demand and slower funding from government.
