LONDON (ShareCast) - Chile-focused copper miner Antofagasta goes up to 'buy' from 'hold' at Citigroup, with price target held at 800p following a 20% slide in the Metals and Mining sector since May’s peak.
The broker reckons the sector now represents good value. It also upped its target on Xstrata to 5,000p from 4,500p and kept the miner and peers Vedanta, Anglo American and First Quantum Minerals as a ‘buy’.
Goldman Sachs has placed DIY retailer Kingfisher on its ‘conviction sell’ list due partly to its exposure to big ticket items in the current downturn.
Aeroengine giant Rolls-Royce is on the ropes after Cazenove cut the shares to 'in-line' from 'outperform' on worries about negative industry newsflow and upcoming interim results.
It said the concerns are short-term and that it is comfortable with the company’s medium-term fundamentals.
But JP Morgan said recently that higher commodity costs, factors related to the dollar and falling aircraft orders are posing a problem for Rolls.
Caz also dropped property developers Hammerson and Brixton to 'underperform' from 'outperform' and 'in-line' respectively after cutting net asset value estimates.
Credit checking firm Experian is still a ‘buy’ at Merrill Lynch following today’s first quarter update. The firm reported a 1% rise in organic revenue despite expectations for a fall.
