LONDON (ShareCast) - F&C Asset Management was down nearly a today as traders speculated that the firm’s second largest shareholder was dumping a large chunk of its stake.
Dawnay Day, an investment firm that owns over 26% of F&C in derivatives and shares, was said to be the seller.
Talk is that around 94 million shares, or 19% of the company, are being placed, enough to unsettle nervous shareholders.
F&C’s largest shareholder is Friends Provident with 52% of the group.
Earlier this year, the life insurer put its F&C Asset Management, Lombard and Pantheon Financial businesses up for sale, but nothing is expected to happen before the third quarter.
