LONDON (ShareCast) - New site openings helped Best of the Best, which displays cars as competition prizes in airports, post higher profits in the year to April 30.

The firm also said trading in the subsequent period was ahead of the previous year despite tougher retail conditions.

Pre-tax profits in the 12 months climbed to £860,000 from £710,000 on turnover that rose to £7.3m from £5.9m.

The company set up new displays at Birmingham, East Midlands and Copenhagen Airports and at Terminals 2 and 5 at Heathrow. It also grew its online business, which now accounts for nearly a quarter of sales.

“Overall our airport sites continue to perform well, and trading since the year end has been in line with management expectations,” chief executive William Hindmarch said.

“Group sales in both May and June were ahead of the same months in 2007, despite the tougher retail conditions being experienced in the wider market.”
