LONDON (ShareCast) - Clapham House shares received a healthy boost after announcing that it had offloaded its wonderfully named Bombay Bicycle Club restaurant chain for a respectable £4.4m in cash. The sale could lead to a further re-rating of the shares, making them a buy for those with a taste for adventure, says the Sunday Telegraph.
Unlike its rivals, there was little messing around from Alliance & Leicester this week. While Bradford & Bingley turned its rights issue into a prolonged and farcical charade, A&L, it seems, took less than three days to agree a deal to sell itself, lock, stock and barrel, says the Sunday Telegraph.
The bank said the deal with Santander offered "certainty in uncertain times." Chances of a counterbid remain slim, but some will consider the possibility of one emerging to be worth hanging on for, it adds.
SDL shares perked up on the statement this week after spending much of the past few months drifting. As a result, they now trade on around 14 times this year's earnings, falling to 12 times those for 2009. Hold, says the Sunday Telegraph.
