Sector movers: ITV bid talk lifts media

LONDON (ShareCast) - Media stocks are going well, particularly ITV which continues to be buoyed by hopes of a bid from Big Brother producer Endemol. BSkyB, ITV’s rival and a stakeholder in the company, also advances.

Elsewhere in the media sector, financial information giant Thomson Reuters is up ahead of its second quarter results due this afternoon.

Industrial Engineering is down after the Glasgow-based maker of pumps for the mining industry Weir fell victim to profit-taking after it delivered an 85% rise in half year pre-tax profit and said it is confident of achieving further growth for the full year.
