Outage at 2nd Rugeley unit, says Int'l Power

LONDON (ShareCast) - International Power’s second 500MW unit at its Rugeley UK coal power station suffered a trip earlier today during recommisioning from a major maintenance overhaul.

The cause of the outage at the unit, which is currently offline, is being investigated.

Last week, the firm said its other 500MW unit at Rugeley would be offline until the end of the third quarter as it undergoes an extended outage.

The electricity generator’s first half profit from operations rose by a better than expected 19% but it warned second half profit would knocked by extended outages at Rugeley.
