Fresnillo joins Footsie

LONDON (ShareCast) - A little-known Mexican silver miner has joined the ranks of London’s leading share index.

Fresnillo, which mines for the precious metal in the state of Zacatecas and elsewhere in the central American country, has been included in the FTSE 100 after the index’s quarterly reshuffle.

It will be joined by train and bus operator Stagecoach, software firm Autonomy and satellite communications group Inmarsat.

The details of the reshuffle were announced by the London Stock Exchange soon after the close of trading Wednesday.

A late rally in ITV’s share price could not save the broadcaster from eviction from the top flight.

Also moving down to the FTSE 250 are mobile phone retailer Carphone Warehouse, pub group Enterprise Inns and iron ore producer Ferrexpo.
