LONDON (ShareCast) - CH Bailey, the engineering and leisure firm, widened its losses over the first half but said it was encouraged by current levels of trading.
The group reported a pre-tax loss of £1.36m for the six months to June compared with a loss of £867,000 a year ago. Turnover from continuing operations rose to £11.3m against £6.6m a year ago.
The loss per share widened to 15.24p from 9.87p previously.
Chairman Charles H Bailey said, “I am encouraged with the current levels of trading. We are continuing to focus on our margins and overheads, following the repositioning and restructuring of the group with the aim of returning the group to profitability.”
In its leisure division Beho Beho, the safari camp in the Selous Game Reserve, exceeded forecasts in revenue and occupancy while its Bay Travel arm also increased its profits.
Modular traded profitably, said the group while both Midway Precision and Specialist Heavy Engineers turned losses into near breakeven positions.
