Royal Mail announces appointment of Non-Executive Director

Royal Mail plc (the Company) is pleased to announce that Simon Thompson is to be appointed as a Non-Executive Director of the Company with effect from 1 November 2017. Simon will become a member of Royal Mail's Audit and Risk Committee at that time. 

Simon Thompson is currently Global Head of Digital Commerce at HSBC. He joined HSBC in 2015 from Wm Morrison Supermarkets PLC where he was Managing Director (On-Line Food). Prior to this, Simon held senior executive positions at Apple Inc, lastminute.com, Motorola Inc. and Honda Motor Europe Ltd.

Commenting on Simon's appointment, Peter Long, Chairman of Royal Mail, said:  

 "I am delighted to welcome Simon to the Board as a Non-Executive Director. He has an outstanding record as a global business leader with proven expertise in the digitisation of business and the customer experience. Simon will undoubtedly add value to the Board's decisions in the delivery of its strategy.

There are no disclosures to be made under Listing Rule 9.6.13.
