The AIM-traded company said the unnamed customer was “one of the world's leading manufacturers” of commercial and military geosynchronous satellite platforms and space probes.
Ubisense said its software platform and location system would support the customer's strategy to double production output.
By integrating location technologies into a single operational view of real-time production, the board explained that SmartSpace provided “complete visibility” of the manufacturing process, creating efficiencies across operations and enabling significant growth in production.
It said the contract win provided another “solid contribution” to the revenues generated from Ubisense's own products, underpinning the board's expectations for the business and demonstrating the business opportunity to win important contracts in completely new sectors.
“As our first contract in the space and satellites sector this is an exciting win for us,” said Ubisense CEO Richard Petti.
“This market offers a wealth of opportunities for Ubisense across the two key areas of satellite manufacturing and ground support equipment manufacturing.”
Petti said the new contract was a result of the board’s ongoing strategy to proactively seek opportunities in new industries as well as retaining and growing business across its core sectors of passenger and commercial vehicles, aerospace and transit.
“SmartSpace is proven to deliver improvements in productivity for many manufacturers and the opportunities that this offers us as a business are enormous.”
