In a pre-close trading update released Monday, the group stated it was expecting to report an EBITDA profit for the full-year of over £300,000. That was up considerably on the £3.7m pre-tax loss it booked in 2016 despite revenues of £22.6m.
Throughout the course of the last financial year, the business underwent significant restructuring, including a cessation of the vast majority of its publishing businesses as the division had been operating unprofitably, so that the group could then spend more time on its TV production and digital communications arms.
Several senior management changes were made and the group now believe they have the “right team of talented executives to drive sustained growth”.
During the reporting period, all of the ongoing divisions traded profitably, the company said in a statement.
The TV division has a commission slate for the financial year just started of £2.8m, 76% higher than that of last year and expect to see increased profitability as progress continued within the division.
In 2017, Zinc received a BAFTA nomination for their original production “Inside Obama’s White House”.
