New era of co-operation signalled as Washington flies Cuban flag
Cuba and the US have mutually restored full diplomatic ties, marking a turnaround from 54 years of fraught relations.
The State Department in Washington raised the Cuban flag in its lobby on Monday to symbolise the new era of co-operation.
In parallel, Cuban officials inaugurated their Washington embassy and raised their national flag for the first time in over five decades.
John Kerry Secretary of State, is due to meet his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez in a joint news conference, in which they will address the media together.
