Bagwell will take up the role with immediate effect and will report to chief executive David Lockwood. He served with the RAF for 36 years, initially as a fast jet combat pilot and then in a number of increasingly senior command and staff roles in both the air and joint environments. He retired in 2016 as the RAF's deputy commander and head of world-wide air operations.
Lockwood said: "Greg brings a wealth of international defence experience and we look forward to the major contribution he will make to the Cobham team."
Cobham said Bagwell has been at the heart of UK operations, defence policy and joint warfare development for the last decade, and has worked closely with many international Air and Defence Forces and industry partners.
