Unilever could be grooming its hair pomade brand Brylcreem for sale to an international trade buyer

Anglo-Dutch consumer giant Unilever is mulling a sale of its Brylcreem hair pomade brand.

Under boss Paul Polman, Unilever has embarked on a strategy to slim down its portfolio of brands.

It is thought Brylcreem could be snapped up by an international trade buyer, possibly from China or India.

Brylcreem was launched in 1928 and has been owned by Unilever since 2009.

Cricket star Kevin Pietersen is its latest ‘Brylcreem Boy’, a tag first used to describe RAF pilots in the Second World War who were known for their natty hairstyles as well as their bravery.
