Lidl launches own '50p challenge' after Sainsbury's gaffe
Continuing its price war against the "big four" supermarkets, discounter store Lidl has come up with its very own "50p challenge" in an amusing riposte to Sainsbury's gaffe earlier this week.

On Monday, Sainsbury accidently posted a sign meant for staff eyes only encouraging them to get customers to spend an extra 50p each time they shop in one of its supermarkets between now and the New Year.
In response, Lidl on Thursday published adverts in The Sun and Metro, calling on its staff to help its customers save "as many 50ps as possible".
A poster with the same message also appeared in the window of one of the chain's stores.

The price war between the supermarkets has been hotting up in recent months with the "big four" consistently losing market share to the discount retailers.
