Explosion at IMF Paris offices leaves one injured
One person has been injured in an explosion at the offices of the International Monetary Fund in Paris after opening an envelope.
France remains in a state of emergency following a spate of deadly attacks on the country from radical Islamist groups during the last two years.
French police said there was no other damage reported in the aftermath of the incident in the country’s capital.
In a separate incident on Wednesday, packages containing explosives were delivered to German finance minister Wolfgang Schaeuble’s department before being intercepted by authorities.
IMF chief Christine Lagarde condemned the actions of those involved in the incident on Thursday, referring to it as a "cowardly act of violence."
"I have been informed about the explosion in the IMF’s Paris office, which caused injuries to one of our staff," Lagarde said in a statement.
"I have been in touch with the office, and my compassion goes to the colleagues there. I condemn this cowardly act of violence and reaffirm the IMF’s resolve to continue our work in line with our mandate."
There has been no confirmation as of yet regarding who orchestrated the attack.
