London Underground unveils night tube service map
London Underground on Monday unveiled its official Night Tube map ahead of introducing its first weekend 24-hour tube service on 12 September.
The map shows customers which Tube lines and stations will operate 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays.
Victoria and Jubilee lines will have trains running on the entire line, as well as on the Northern Line, with exception of the Mill Hill East and Bank branches. On the Central line, trains will operate between Ealing Broadway and Hainault, and on the Picadilly line between Cockfosters and Heathrow Terminal 5.
The introduction of the Night Tube is a historic step in our modernisation of the Underground
“The introduction of the Night Tube is a historic step in our modernisation of the Underground,” Gareth Powell, London Underground's Director of Strategy & Service Development said
Powell also commented that this service will boost London's night-time economy, while Transport for London echoed it expected to support around 2,000 permanent jobs and to boost local economy by £360m.
Night time journeys across London for millions of people will be also transformed, and journeys are expected to be cut by an average of 20 minutes.
The decision to launch the service comes in response to the 70% growth that London Underground has experienced on Friday and Saturday nights since 2000.
