Aer Lingus, Ireland's flag carrier airline, has announced a 7% increase year-on-year in the number of passengers for the month of August.
Over 1.2m passengers flew with the carrier last month, up from 1.1m passengers the airline had carried in August 2013.
Aer Lingus said the number of passengers on its short haul flights rose from 884,000 to 913,000, while customers on long haul flights rose 22% to 148,000 and passengers on Aer Lingus regional routes rose 19% to 144,000 compared to the same period 12 months ago.
The airline, which has recently announced the launch of a daily Dublin to Leeds service from next month, said it had registered a higher load factor - the parameter indicating the percentage of seats that are filled on each flight - in August and its overall load factor rose from 86.6% to 87.8%.
