Facebook hits 1bn users in one day
Facebook revealed on Friday that more than 1bn people used the network on Monday, setting a new milestone in social media connectivity.

"We just passed an important milestone. For the first time ever, one billion people used Facebook in a single day,” chief executive Mark Zuckerberg posted on his Facebook profile late on Thursday.
Zuckerberg also posted a video on his profile showing people celebrating the achievement, and tagged it with the heading "feeling connected".

In the second quarter of 2015, the company had 968m daily active users on average.
Since Facebook was launched in 2004, it has managed to become the second most trafficked website globally.
