North Korea blocks access to Instagram
North Korean authorities on Tuesday blocked access to social network Instagram.,
The move came just days after some photos of a fire at one of North Korea's biggest and best-known hotels in Pyongyang were leaked.
When users tried to open the app using Koryolink, the North Korean carrier, a warning message appeared: “Warning! You can’t connect to this website because it’s in blacklist site”.
Tech support staff at Koryolink said they were not aware of any changes in policy regarding Instagram.
It is estimated that more than 2m North Koreans use mobile phones, although most of them cannot enjoy access to the internet, so this block affects mainly to tourists and foreigners living in the country.
