UK newspapers targeted by cyber attack
A host of British media organisations had their websites hacked on Thursday, in what is believed to be an attack orchestrated by the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA).
The organisation, which supports Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, posted a message on its Twitter account reading: "Happy thanks giving, hope you didn't miss us! The press: Please don't pretend #ISIS are civilians. #SEA"
Internet users trying to access web pages on the newspapers’ websites were greeted by a message that said: “You've been hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA)" and were then redirected to a page displaying the group's logo, an image of an eagle bearing the Syrian flag with a message in Arabic underneath.
