   Types of ISAs - the Mini ISA

Mini ISAs allow you to open three separate accounts with the same or different providers. You can open Cash, Insurance, and Stocks and Shares ISAs all in the same tax year.

You can invest - up to £3,000 in cash, up to £1,000 in life insurance, and up to £3,000 in stocks and shares or investment products.

Could be suitable for:

Somebody with a smaller amount to invest or who's spare savings fluctuate throughout the financial year.

Important warnings:

  • A Mini ISA does not allow you to invest your whole allowance in stocks and shares.

  • Once you have plumped for a Mini ISA you cannot revert to a Maxi one in that financial year.
