Now, you have three options here

  1. Keep security on the summary page
  2. Put it into the archives
  3. Delete it completely

Option One

This is the easiest option to explain. However, not the most practical.

If you have a lot of securities it is sometimes advised to only have securities’ that you are investing in at that moment on this page.

This is your decision though.

Option Two

This is the most recommended option as it still keeps a record your transactions with this security.

Step One: Click on the hide button (the yellow exclamation mark) that is next to the security.

Managing your portfolio

You will then be asked if you want to hide this security. Click “OK”

Managing your portfolio

The Security will then be put into archives

Step Two: To see the archives – click on “View hidden securities”

Managing your portfolio

You will then be taken to the archives page where all the securities are kept which have been hidden

Managing your portfolio

If you decide to reinvest in this company and would like to put it back into the portfolio summary page then click on the “Unhide button” (the blue tick) next to the security

Managing your portfolio

Once again you will be asked again if you want to unhide this security – click “Ok”

The security will now reappear on the portfolio summary page.

Managing your portfolio

Option Three

If you do decide to delete this security then you will delete its transactions history complete.

Look at is as if you have a filing cabinet.

Every security you have invested in has its own file. In each file is all your statements and records of the buying and selling of the security.

To delete this security from your portfolio would be like grabbing the security’s file with all the statements and receipts and throwing it in the bin. There is then absolutely no record (or file) to show that any of those transactions occurred.

Most of us would still like to keep the record so maybe we would move it to a separate draw (archiving it)

Step One: Click on the “Delete” button (the red cross)

Managing your portfolio

You will be asked if you want to remove this security from your portfolio. – Click “Ok”

Managing your portfolio

The security will now be removed from your portfolio as well as from you statement.

Portfolio Statement

You can see a portfolio statement that shows the cash flow of your trading account by clicking on 'portfolio statement'.

Managing your portfolio

This will also include any Dividends that your invested company has paid you.

Note that every time you ‘purchase’ a share this will impact your cash balance negatively and vice versa for every sale. To get an accurate reflection of your trading account, you will need to add the amount of money you have started with in your trading account by selecting ‘edit cash balance' located at the bottom of the portfolio screen.
