Notification of Proposed Transactions by Person Discharging Managerial Responsibilities

Smiths Group plc ("the Company") today announces that on 19 July 2017 the Chairman, Sir George Buckley, entered into a binding commitment via a trading plan, to purchase Ordinary Shares on a quarterly basis using a fixed proportion (20%) of the after-tax fees he receives from the Company.  The first such purchase will occur on 1 August 2017 with subsequent purchases to occur on or around the first business day of each quarter.  The Chairman intends to hold the Ordinary Shares purchased under this arrangement until his retirement from the board of the Company.
